Enrollment, Setup, and Installation > Installing SWRemote Installing SWRemoteIf you have received your equipment, you need to make certain that you have completed the enrollment process (please re-visit the link in your original enrollment email). If this is the first time you've used SWRemote you need to install the application on the device. In order to complete this process you need to install the listed basic components to the device. IMPORTANT: Please ensure that your phone is activated on your selected wireless carrier. In order to install the various sections of the software you need to perform the following steps: First, turn on the phone and ensure that the printer is plugged into the phone. This will be important when you install the printer later. Next, Ensure the included memory card is installed in the phone. This will ensure that you have enough space once your pricebook has been installed. Click on the start menu and select Internet Explorer (or click Programs: When the program list comes up, select Internet Explorer). This opens the internet explorer browser installed on your phone and allows you to surf the internet. Navigate the browser to the following address: swmt21.com. This will provide you with the web page needed to install the listed basic functions (programs / applications) of the SWRemote application. If you have previously installed SWRemote and have been directed to reinstall the application, you can skip the first three steps of this process and continue down to Installing the SWRemote Application. Otherwise it is very important to ensure that you follow the steps for installing SWRemote in the proper order. Installing the Supporting ApplicationsThere are 2 support applications that need to be installed in order for your installation of SWRemote to function properly. These are applications provided by and supported by Microsoft and are listed as the first two steps in this process. Start the installation process by clicking the first link on the swmt21.com site, Microsoft CF.Net 2.0. This will install the Microsoft Compact Framework on the device which is the framework for the rest of the applications installed during this process. The device will not function until this process has been completed. Once you click on the link, the device will download the installation file and will ask you if you would like to run the application once the installation completes. Click Yes to install this upon completion of the download. For this and all of the installations ensure, when prompted, you install the applications to the storage memory, not the memory card. Once this installation is complete, the system will prompt you that you need to reboot the phone in order for the changes to take effect. Click OK to do this and your phone will reboot. Once the device reboots you'll be back on the main page of the phone again. Follow the same steps you followed earlier to return yourself to Internet Explorer and the installation page located at swmt21.com. The next step in the process is installing Microsoft SQL Server Mobile. This process is identical to the previous installation with the exception is that you will likely not need to reboot the machine once this completes. Installing the Printer/ScannerNow that the supporting applications have been installed, we need to install that software which will run the printer device. These are located on the same installation page used for the supporting applications, swmt21.com. The 3rd step in this process, PP5 Printer Utility, is the link you will use for this installation. Follow the steps in the same way you did for the supporting applications previously. Click on the link to start the download and click that you would like to install the application once the download completes. This will install the software needed to run the printer device. Once the software is installed, the next process is to show the windows operating system where the printer is and to set it up properly. To set up the printer for use, perform the following steps. First, ensure that the phone is plugged into the printer and that there is a light on the bottom of the printer indicating that the printer is turned on. Also, ensure that paper has been installed in the paper as per the previous directions and that the device will print a test page as described earlier. Click on the start menu and click on settings. This will provide you with a menu to change the settings for the device. Click on the tab on the bottom labeled System. This allows you to change the underlying settings of the system. If the previous installation of the printer software was successful, you should have an icon listed on this page for Settings > System Settings > Print Config. Clicking this icon will allow you to complete the installation of the printer. The first page of this application shows what printer you'd like to configure. This should already be set to the DATECS PP55. This is the correct setting. Click the Ports tab at the bottom of the screen to select which port the phone will attempt to use while printing. Change the radio button to point to USB and in the dropdown should list COM8. This should properly set the installation of the printer. To test that the printer is working, click on the "General" tab and on that page should be a Print Self Test button. This will send a self test to the printer. Ensure the printer has a power light on the bottom and click the self test button. If this prints information from the printer this completes the installation of the PP55 printer. Installing the SWRemote ApplicationThe last step of the installation process is to install the SWRemote application itself. This is the last link listed on the swmt21.com page you used to install the previous applications. Follow the same steps to install the SWRemote application on the device. Click yes as you have previously to install the application. Once it completes the download, ensure you're installing to the phone and not the memory card. Registering the SWRemote ApplicationNow that you have the SWRemote application you are ready to register your device and start using the application. In order to do this, click on the start menu and click the 'Programs' option. This will show you a list of the installed programs on the phone. Select the SWremote icon and the application will start. Ensure the memory card is still installed into the phone. If this is the first time you've started your device, or if you've had to do a reinstall, you will be presented with the device registration screen. This registration allows you to start using your application and registers your software on your phone. When you reach the device registration screen you will be prompted for a username and password as well as a description for the phone you're installing on. This username and password is the SWRemote server account you use to manage your account online. Type this username and password in, put in a short description for your device, and click OK to register your device. For successful registration, you will need to ensure that you have completed the enrollment process and established a gateway for SWAPI. When you have successfully registered your device you are now able to use the application. Please see the user guide for information on using the SWRemote application. |
