Printer Is Not Working Properly

Often, the users for SWRemote have difficulties with the printer, saying the device will not print. First things first, when doing the original install on the phone, make sure you install the printer to the USB port, when it prompts you. Listed below are some common questions related to the printer:

The light on the printer is on, but when I try to print, it is not working. How do I fix this?

There are a couple things you need to check in order for the printer to print successfully.

1. Make sure the printer is not plugged in to the power supply while trying to print. If the power supply is plugged into the printer, it will not function.

2. Make sure the printer is on the correct port. To be sure this is correct, on the phone, navigate accordingly: Start -> Settings -> System (tab) -> Click on the Print Config Icon. (If this icon is not there, that means you have not successfully installed the printer utility. Navigate to http://swmt21.com on your phone and click on the PP5 Printer Utility link. Be sure to intall this to the USB port when prompted.)

Once in the print config, select the 'Port' table and make sure the printer is on USB: Com Port 8. Once you make sure this is correct, go back to the 'General' tab and try a self test. Make sure the light on the printer is still on, and give it a few seconds once the port is changed. This should print the self test page.

I made sure the power supply is not plugged in, and the printer is on the correct port, yet the printer is still not printing correctly, what should I do?

Your phone may have too many applications running at the same time and is loosing connectivity with the printer.  Navigate in the following order through the phones menus to see if you have running applications you don't need running.  Start->Settings->System (tab)-> Memory-> Running Programs (tab).  Stop any programs that aren't in use.  Now do a test print again.

In a rare case, the printer seems to lose it's conectivity with the COM port, and the printer ceases to print, even if it is listed on the correct port. In this case, reset the phone and go through the steps of verifying the printer is on the correct port (Step #2 found above). This should solve the printer issue.

The light on the printer is blinking, what does this mean?

When the light on the printer is blinking, this means the paper is not loaded correctly, or the paper has ran out. Replace the paper and this light should stop blinking.
