How To: Set up Tutorial Company

A tutorial company is used primarily for training purposes. With a tutorial company you can create new users, assign tasks to those users and complete jobs with out affecting your actual company data.

The first step is acquiring your current swmagent password. To do this, log onto your SuccessWare server and traverse through the menus in the following order:

Setup->Utilities->click "yes" -> select (ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS...) and click "Run Utility" -> select AgentManager and click "Run Utility"

Now you will be looking at a screen similar to this one:

Copy down the Agent Password in the highlighted field next to the Agent Name of swmagent, pay special attention to capitalization. Also make sure that the Is Enabled field is set to True. If it is not True, simply right click in the field and select Enable/Disable.

Now log completely out of SuccessWare.

Next we are going to log back into SuccessWare, but this time we are logging in as Tutorial.

Select the check box in the lower left corner. Try logging in with your normal administrator credentials, if those credentials don't work, us the

user name: p

password: p

Navigate back to the AgentManager using the same steps as listed above. Enter the password you copied down earlier into the Agent Password field next to the swmagent. Also verify that the Is Enabled field says True. If it is not True, simply right click in the field and select Enable/Disable. You can close that and save your changes.

By logging onto http://www.swremote.com as the administrator account for your company, you can test to see if you have successfully set up the tutorial company. Navigate the following sequence on the site, Settings->Account. In this screen you will see a Test Setting button at the top. Press that button and if your tutorial company is set up correctly you will get this response, "Connection to Successware (Tutorial) has Succeeded."

You now have your tutorial company fully set up, next just create users, jobs, and start your training!
